Thanks to Doris from
Oklahoma City for all those wonderful variations of the
Pineapple Angel Food Cake. We love that one - and now can't
wait to try the rest!!
And thanks to you, Nancy - you know I think you're the
greatest!
Rosemarie from rural Kansas City
To Doris in
Oklahoma-------Thank you from one of the 7 members that
requested the variations of the angel food cake!
Connie from Beech Grove
Hi Nancy, You continue
to do an awesome job!! I liked the way you put the Angel
Food Cake variations together. You definitely condensed them
in the best way for everyone.
This is for Jen in Ohio who is looking for a dessert "finger
food" for church. Why don't you make mini Cheesecakes. You
can buy the paper or foil cups in the miniature version,
make a crumb crust from cookies, or buy the packaged cookie
crumbs, ( I love progress!) and just make a regular batch of
cheesecake.
I made these during the holidays and flavored each batch
with a different flavor; mint, cherry, almond, orange. They
are really good and freeze really well too.

Doris is the one that condensed them. I thank her too.
Nancy
My thanks goes out to
those who sent in variations to the angel food cake recipe.
I copied them all on one sheet of paper and will use a
magnet to permanently attach to my refrigerator. My husband
and I love the pineapple one, but I must try it with coconut
and rum extract. It will take us back to when we were
sipping Pina Coladas on the Waikiki beach many years ago.
Also, I would like to pass some information onto AK. I know
you were asking for recipes, but may I suggest that it is
not so much the recipe, but how you cook it. When the
temperatures get hot around here, we do a lot of grilling. I
have a big roaster that I can plug in out on the deck. But,
did you know that small appliances don't seem to give off as
much heat as having the oven on? The crock pot isn't just
good for winter meals. Also my Pizza cooker gives off very
little heat and doesn't have to preheat. We make pizzas,
grilled sandwiches and French fries on it. I heard it is
good for the frozen fish sticks and chicken nuggets, too,
although I haven't had any of them. Even cooking on top of
the stove is better than turning the oven on. I always have
some cold salads made up in the frig, since they are so easy
to make with all the fresh produce available. Hope this gets
you thinking about other methods.
Sandy in Iowa.

I love all the variations that have been sent in as well. I
plan to try them all at some point.

For Karen in IL,
You told Doris you had made lemon bars with a Angel Food
Cake Recipe. I Love Lemon Bars.
The different variations for the Angel Food Cake
Recipes she wrote one lemon. Is this the same one for your
Lemon Bars? If not the same could you Please post that
recipe for me.
Thank You and God Bless. Yvonne in Iowa.
Hi Nancy, This letter is
in regards to Nancy, Houston about the Ham Rolls, I have the
recipe, but I call them Ham Delights.
Ham Delights
1 stick margarine
3 Tlbs. prepared mustard
3 Tlbs. poppy seed
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
40 count Pepperidge Farm rolls
1/2 c. finely chopped onion
2 c. shredded Mozzarella cheese
1/2 c. thinly sliced ham, shredded
Blend margarine, mustard & poppy seed. Split rolls & spread
on top & bottom with above mixture. Place shredded ham &
Mozzarella cheese on each roll. Wrap in foil & heat 10
minutes @ 400º or until cheese melts. The spread is
delicious on hamburgers & toasted meat sandwiches.
Also to Trish about the Dutch Process Cocoa, Target Super
Center has it.
Also to Barb, WNY about the powdered Chicken bouillon,
Wyler's makes a Granules Chicken, which is flavored instant
bouillon. Also there is a Chicken base which is used in
soups. The Wyler's is found were the chicken bouillon cubes
are.
Becky, OKC
A similar recipe was sent in by KHL as well.

I am responding to the
note from Joyce from Ky. on June 26, 2006 about the Belgia
flip waffle maker. I decided to get one after having the
waffles on a trip we made. I got the waffle maker from
Williams Sonoma because of the size. It is great. You get a
recipe book with it.
Barbara from NC
Hi Nancy: This is for
Joyce in Kentucky who is looking for a Flip-Over Waffle
Maker. QVC has one. It's about $80. Looks like a good one
and seems to be reasonable prices. I believe the brand if
Rival.
Marie G
Hi...this is for Joyce
in KY. 6-26-06 newsletter.
This is so funny, because I too made the waffles at a hotel
last year and decided I had to have a "flip" waffle maker. I
bought the Waring Pro and I LOVE it. I got it at Costco for
$49.00 and my friend just
bought one at Sam's Club for the same price. QVC also sells
it, but their price is about $80.00. Yikes!
The waffles come out perfect and you can vary the crispness
to your choice. The hotel we stayed at use a malted batter
and I found the brand they used at Cost Plus. I know there
are other brands of this type of waffle maker, but IMHO the
Waring Pro is a winner.
Barb in San Diego
Hi Joyce in Ky,
I have use one of those waffle makers in a couple motels
myself. In fact I was looking for one too.
I have seen them demonstrate the kind they use at motels on
QVC. A home shopping network on TV.
Go to http://qvc.com and type
in waffle maker or K-2331 in the search area and this one
will come up for you. It is a Waring Pro Stainless Steal
Professional Waffle Maker for $79.50 and no shipping and
handling charges at this time. If you can't get them on TV
there phone # to talk to someone about this product is
1-800-345-1515. They are nice people there. I have ordered
things from them before. I want to order this my self.
Guess I better get it ordered before they add shipping costs
to it too. Hope this is what you are looking for and hope
this helped. Let me now how it turns out for you..

Hi Nancy and gang,
I am sending in my favorite banana bread recipe because it
just can't be beat. This makes the
best banana bread I have ever eaten, hope y'all will like it
too. I have made it into muffins too.
Mary in TX (Amarillo)
My Best Banana Bread
What takes this banana bread out of the realm of the
traditional is the addition of flaked
coconut and raisins to the batter.
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup vegetable oil
2 cups ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup flaked coconut
3 eggs, beaten
**optional ingredients:
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°. Grease two 8-inch loaf pans.
In a large bowl stir together the flour, sugar, cinnamon,
baking soda, and salt. Add the oil, bananas, raisins,
coconut, and eggs (vanilla if using it). Mix well. Add
pecans and stir in, if using them. Pour into prepared pans
and let sit 20 minutes.
Bake for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted near the
center comes out clean. Allow the loaves to cool in the pans
for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a rack.

Did your part of Amarillo get rain. Some parts got lots in a
short period of time and others didn't get any. I was
running around and was in the part that got lots and lots of
rain. I had to stop and pull over and wait til the rain
stopped. (Most of the time in the Panhandle of Texas
it stops almost before it starts)

For Boots in Virginia.
We bought our first MicroWave in 74". Paid $600.00 for it
too. It's a Sharp and still working, but when we moved into
our new house it was too big to go into the space for one,
so we went to WalMart and bought another Sharp for $99.00
and it has all the bells and whistles of it. One of the
things I really like though is the turn table. Hope this
helps.

Have you ever had one of
those days when you just wish two kitties (Siggy and Ditto)
would find someone else's desk to play on? I am having
difficulty keeping from laughing as I am doing the
newsletter. Siggy is asleep on my desk beside me and Ditto
is trying to stuff his tail down the hole in the desk (where
the computer cords are supposed to go.) Siggy is ignoring
the whole thing.
Ditto imitates everything he sees. Since I have been loosing
weight I go in every morning to the kitchen, tap the scales
and wait til it zeros out. I then step up on the scale and
see how much I weigh. This morning a little after I had
weighed I went back into the kitchen to get a drink. There
was Ditto tapping the scale with his paw, waiting and then
stepping up on the scale. He looked down at it just I always
do. I didn't have my camera but will try and snap a picture
of him on the scale. It makes the little critters all worth
while when they bring so much happiness into my life.
Nancy
Hi Nancy Keep up the
good work.
Barb in Wny I live near a small Amish market that has the
powder that I think you are
looking for they also have Ham, Beef and I think Vegetable
as well as Chicken and it is not expensive if you want I
will get you some to try.
Sue who made the blender cheesecake
Did you make it in a 10 in DEEP dish
that is what I use all the time and it fits.
Karen in South Dakota I don't know about that but itf you
want to freeze the corn I have a great recipe that you don't
have to blanch you bake it in the oven or microwave and it
is so easy you can do everything outside.
Now can you help me I saw the omelets that were made in a
plastic bag and forgot to copy them now I don't remember
when they were.
Thanks Judy/Lola
To Sue, who questioned
the size of the 10 inch pie plate in June 26th issue,
regarding the Blender Cheesecake Recipe: The pie plate needs
to be a 10 inch DEEP DISH pie plate OR, I have made it in a
9 inch springform pan with good success as well.

6/9. Looking for Meatball w/uncooked White Rice. I knew that
I had this. Just needed to look. I found it in Dinners for
Two by Betty Crocker published in 1965. It has been awhile
since I made these but, I remember that they were very good.
Kind of like the insides of a stuffed pepper without the
pepper flavor.
Porcupines
1/2 lb. ground beef
1/4 cup uncooked rice
1/4 cup milk or water
2 tablespoon chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
1/8 teaspoon garlic salt
dash of pepper
l Tablespoon Oil
1 can (8oz) tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Mix beef, rice, onion, and seasonings. Form into 4 medium
balls. Pan fry in the oil, turning frequently, until light
brown (but not crusty) on all sides. Add tomato sauce,
water, and Worchestshire sauce. Mix well. Cover; simmer 45
min. over low heat. Add a small amount of additional water
if liquid cooks down too much. 2 servings.

Could someone PLEASE
repeat the mixture for the homemade
carpet cleaner using the Clorox 2 in it? I want to
clean my carpet this weekend after all of the rain here in
North Carolina, and the muddy doggy paws I need it. I copied
it but silly me didn't save it and when I got home,
naturally the power went out so I lost it. THANKS!!!

Do you have a recipe for
green chile casserole where you
put the green chiles on bottom layer then add cheese and egg
mixture.
Vi in Tex
Have been reading so
much about Greased Lightning that I just have to try it.
What kind of container does it come in and where can it be
purchased? Since I am from Canada I don’t think I can
purchase it here but my daughter is going on a shopping
expedition soon and I would have her get it for me.
