Hi Rhonda in Texas ..What a great idea an Hawaiian wedding! We did a summer party last summer on that theme...Is it on the luau way ?
Here are the recipes I contributed( You should see the photos! )
Jocelyne in Quebec

Royal Hawaiian Wedding Cake
Yield: 12 Servings

Ingredients For Cake:
1 1/2 pk Butter recipe cake mix
1/3 c Light rum
6 oz Instant vanilla pudding
1 1/2 c Water
4 ea Jumbo eggs
1/4 c Salad oil

Ingredients For Frosting:
6 oz Crushed pineapple w/juice
4 oz Instant vanilla pudding
1/3 c Light rum
2 pt Whipping cream; whipped
Coconut; for garnish

Mix all cake ingredients for cake and divide into (3) 8 or 9 inch greased and floured cake pans and bake at temperature listed on the box. Divide each layer into 2 layers-so you end up with 6 layers
total. Soak the pineapple with the rum for about 30 minutes. Mix in pudding and let sit until in a gelled state. Whip the two pints of heavy whipping cream, (put metal mixing bowl in freezer along with
beaters before whipping for best results-I also put pints into freezer for several minutes before whipping too.) Whip cream until firm-watch it so it doesn't become butter-that's going too far! Then
fold in the pudding mixture into the whipped cream-carefully. Toast the coconut in oven til lightly browned. Alternate layers of cake with layers of thick whipped cream. Garnish with toasted coconut and
cover with plastic wrap tightly and place in refrigerator until the next day. I have found that if you do not wait and let these flavors meld for atleast 8 hours, you end up taking a bite of cake and frosting that has pieces of pineapple loaded with rum and just doesn't taste good

Coconut Macadamia Jumbos
1 C Brown sugar firmly packed
3/4 C Sugar
1 C Margarine/butter
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla
2 Eggs
3 C Flour

1 tsp Baking soda
1/4 tsp Salt
1 C Coconut (I like moa so I put in 1/2 C moa)
1 C Macadamia nuts (I like moa so put 1/2 C moa)

Heat oven to 350. Combine brown sugar, sugar, and margarine. Beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs. Blend well. Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix well. Stir in coconut and macadamia nuts. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto un-greased cookie sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets.

Baduya Karabasa Hawaïï
20 oz. Mochiko ( Gluten rice flour )
3/4 c brown sugar
1 c cooked and mashed pumpkin (karabasa)
1 can coconut milk
oil for deep frying

Mix mochiko, sugar, pumpkin and coconut milk together until a soft dough is formed. Heat oil. Drop by tablespoonful into hot oil. Cook until golden brown. Balls should float to top of oil when done.

Thank you Becky, OKC and KHL for your comments on the Wylers powdered bouillon. I have tried everything in the past and nothing compares to the one I bought at Daley's Country Pantry. To Judy/Lola thank you for your offer but I'm looking for the one in Volant, Pa.

Thanks Nancy for telling us about the antics of your kittys. Your description was so good that I was able to see them playing. Your newsletter is the most friendly and homey one. I enjoy it so much.

To Susan in TX
There are several ways to get the degree sign but the easiest way for me to remember it is Alt + 248

Remember, 2 squared 2 x 2 x 2 in other words 2 x 2 = 4 x 2 = 8
Good luck

I’m going to miss you for a week or so Nancy. I still think this site will be the ”mold” for all other successful sites. Once this mold is broken, there can never be any other like it. I especially have always loved your kitty talk. Don’t you still miss Annie, Nancy? That’s all right, I love Dizzy, too. Until we meet again!

Bunnie in Southern CA, moving to Parker, CO in 2 days Are there any Nancylanders in PARKER. CO?

Comment
Annie was such a sweet cat.  I had her a number of years before she died several years ago.  Siggy went around for over a year meowing missing her.  Siggy only tolerated her but did love her.  When I got Ditto he was very small (about 4 pounds) and was still a kitten.  Siggy loves Ditto so much.  He has lost a lot of weight chasing Ditto.  With Annie Siggy would not share anything with her which included beds, toys, windows and chairs.  Ditto and Siggy share everything.  Both Siggy and Ditto spend a lot of time watching birds from the same window.  Siggy would have never shared the same window with Annie..  Siggy and Ditto spend a lot of time sleeping curled up together on the bed. They play together with todyas and sleep on the same chair.

Nancy, I enjoy reading the newsletter and enjoy and learn so much each day. I am sorry but I don't remember what newsletter that AK wanted to know about cooking in HOT weather. I have owned a crock pot or 2, 3 or more at one time or another. I had the old crock pot that had the crock included in the base. I had that for so long that one of the 3 legs started to turn on its own and you had to be sure that the leg was in place. Back then I would not have been without it because I used it for so many things. I have used them for soups, stews, beef roast, pork roast, BBQ beef or pork, pork chops, liver, mac & cheese casserole, mac & beef casserole, cube steaks, spaghetti & sauce, Swiss Steak, and anything that you can cook in an oven you can use a crock pot for. I also have a couple of George Foreman grills. I use these for steaks, loin chops, hamburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, grill ham slices, hot dogs and much more. We also have an outside grill that we use.

Nancy thank you for your outstanding newsletter. I hope that you can get this information into today's or Thursdays newsletter so your member will know about this. My husband had this sent to him at work and has added our cell phones on the no call list for cell phones. I will put just the important part of the email that was sent to him.

"I am sending this out to let people know about the latest threat to our privacy, cell phone tele-marketers. In just a few day everyone's cell phone number will be available to tele-marketers. To add insult to injury, these incoming calls will count against your plan minutes, so you will be paying to receive these calls. There is a national "DO NOT CALL" list. To enroll call 1-888-382-1222 using your cell phone. You can also enroll up to 3 numbers at the web site http://www.donotcall.gov. I would recommend getting on the list as soon as possible and pass this along to anyone you know with a cell phone.

Thanks Nancy and I know that the members will thank you also.

I went to the link and signed up my cell phone.  I had forgotten to add my new number and did not know I could add my cell phone number.

I am responding to Yvonne in Iowa about her question for lemon bars. My recipe is not the same as all of the variations that were recently posted, but is a recipe that I got from this site. I apologize to the person that originally sent it, as I don't remember the name, but I certainly do thank them. These are the best and easiest bars that I have tried.
Karen, Il

1 can lemon pie filling.
Mix dry cake mix and pie filling by hand. Bake in a lightly greased 9 x 13 pan in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.
GLAZE 1 cup powdered sugar and lemon juice mixed together. Pour over cake while still warm

This is for Doris in Oklahoma City. Thanks so much for sharing the Angel Food Cake Variations! I have also forwarded them to my daughter and daughter-in-law and we are all looking forward to trying them.

Now that I have my Belgium Waffle Maker ordered, I am hoping that I can get some good recipes from readers, that are easy and delicious! I understand that the recipes in the booklet that comes with it are complicated.
Thanks again, Joyce in Ky.

Regarding the lady's query about Greased Lightning--I have used it for years off and on. Can buy it at most any grocery here in TN in the cleaning section and also at Walmart or Kmart--probably Target etc so when your daughter goes shopping have her look for it. I have had to hide it from my husband as he uses it outside to clean the car tires, etc as well.
Hope this helps. Sharon in TN

For Vi in TX, June 27th newsletter- What timing- I just got this recipe in my inbox from the Spicy Vegetarian yahoo! group!
Sounds quick and easy-
Sharon in SA

Jalapeño Pie
1 can green chilies, chopped
3 to 5 seedless jalapeños, chopped
1/2 lb. Monterey Jack cheese, grated
1/2 lb. cheddar cheese, grated
6 eggs, beaten or substitute

Butter a 9-inch baking pan. Spread chilies and peppers in bottom of dish. Spread cheeses over pepper. Add dash of garlic powder to beaten eggs and pour over cheeses. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cut into small squares.

This is in response to the 6/27 newsletter for Geralyn in NC asking about the Greased Lightning. I saw it the other day when I went shopping for groceries. Giant Eagle carries it for around $4.50. I also believe Walmart carries it.
