We need help, please. My daughter lived in Nebraska for a year or so
many years ago, and remembered a sandwich they had there called
RUNZA as far as he can remember. She asked me to see if anyone can give us
the recipe for them. They were bun shaped, baked inside was browned ground
beef and cooked cabbage.

mean multiples. I belong to several yahoo groups and I can't tell you how
much email I had on Wednesday!

Nancy, to all the ladies looking for a place to buy fabric, you don't
need Wal-Mart. I go to Jo-Ann.com
.
Just write the item # down so you can give it to them when you order. I
have been doing this for 5 years and have never had to return any item.
And you can return it as long as it's 1 yard or more. It sure beat driving
45 miles or more. I have also ordered supplies for my crafting.

For Doris in Oklahoma City. Thanks so very much for being so prompt in
sending your wonderful recipe for Buttermilk Chicken. I will
definitely make it this weekend as we really enjoyed it and have wanted to
have it again. I will make it for my oldest son and my daughter-in-law and
maybe that will help them as they are busy trying to clean out their
flooded house. We have had about 10 inches of rain in the past 2 days and
it got all in their house last night. I am sure a good meal will help how
they feel, don't you agree?
Thanks again, you are an angel for sending this so soon.
Regards and good cooking..

This is for Mary who sent in the Triple Chocolate Cake recipe in
the Mar 22-23 newsletter.
Today I baked it in my 12 cup bundt pan at 375* for 45 minutes. Couldn't
wait 6 hours for the slow cooker !! It is a fantastic recipe anyway you
chose to do it.
Thanks a big chocolate heap.

To gramaj, I have a Magic Vac Maxima and I LOVE it. It works so
very well. I throw out so much less food now than I used to. No freezer
burn on anything. And it’s very strong. One day my niece and nephew were
over. It was right before Halloween and we were making and decorating a
Halloween cake with marshmallow ghosts. We had some left so I showed them
what happens to one of them if you put it into a jar and vacuum seal it.
It gets REALLY big. And then goes flat as soon as you let out the air.
They had a ball blowing up ghosts! The one on E-bay for $158.00 with free
shipping is who I ordered mine through. They are a good company.
To Betty Ann in W. TN about wondering where “made in America” went. I’ve
been wondering the exact same thing! I think it was a gimmick to get
everyone used to shopping there thinking the store was so great to sell
only made in America stuff and then they quickly ended that hoping most
people wouldn’t even notice since their prices were so cheap (ha, not
anymore they’re not!).

Nancy,
Sorry you and some of the others have been having severe weather. Hope
everyone is staying safe. I was just letting you know that those who got
multiple copes of the newsletter it was by no fault of Nancy, so please
don't blame her for getting so many emails. It was Yahoo being it's usual
pain in the back side. I don't know what their problem was but it appears
to be fixed now. We can only hope! :)

I'm wondering if Sharon from Pa. ever got a response regarding a
solution for a cleaner to clean glass
shower doors. I must have missed it and would appreciate it if someone
could tell me what newsletter that was in. I also have a build up of
mineral deposits on my shower doors and would like to be able to clean
them. Thanks to all.

I did a search asking for recipes using dough hooks
and there are a few with exact instructions including bagels, pizza ,quick
breads even crackers
This link may be helpful
http://www.kitchenlink.com/mf/31/43173
some tips here
http://home.earthlinknet/~ggda/machines.htm
This is the only recipe I have tried using dough hooks and it turned out
well
Whole Grain Wheat Bread - KitchenAid
1/3 cup plus 1 Tbs. brown sugar
2 cups warm water
2 packages active dry yeast
5-6 cups whole wheat flour
3/4 cup powdered milk
2 teaspoons salt
1/3 cup oil
Dissolve 1 Tablespoon brown sugar in warm water in small bowl. Add yeast
and let
mixture stand.
Place 4 cups flour, powdered milk, 1/3 cup brown sugar, and salt in mixer
bowl. Attach bowl and dough hook to mixer. Turn to Speed 2 and mix about
15 seconds. Continuing on
Speed 2, gradually add yeast mixture and oil to flour mixture and mix
about 1 1/2 minutes longer. Stop and scrape bowl, if necessary.
Continuing on Speed 2, add remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, and mix
about 2 minutes, or until dough clings to hook and cleans sides of bowl.
Knead on Speed 2 about 2 minutes longer.
Note: Dough may not form a ball on hook. However, as long as hook comes in
contact with dough, kneading will be accomplished. Do not add more than
the maximum amount of flour specified or a dry loaf will result.
Place dough in greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover. Let rise in
warm place, free from draft, about 1 hour, or until doubled in bulk.
Punch dough down and divide in half. Shape each half into a loaf. Place in
a greased 8 1/2 x4 1/2 x2 1/2 inch baking pan. Cover. Let rise in warm
place, free from draft, about 1 hour, or until doubled in bulk.
Bake at 400ºF for 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350ºF and bake 30
minutes longer. Remove from pans immediately and cool on wire racks.
Yield: 32 servings (16 slices per loaf).
Per serving: About 112 cal, 4 g pro, 19 g carb, 3 g fat, 2 mg chol, 146 mg
sod.

I made a lemon meringue pie last weekend and it never gelled. What did
I do wrong? Here is the recipe I used.
Lemon Meringue Pie
1-1/2 cups water
1/2 cup lemon juice
1-1/2 cup Splenda Granular
3 tablespoons cornstarch
3 jumbo eggs -- separated - beat in 1/2 cup cold water
2 egg whites
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 tablespoon butter
Meringue
3 large egg whites
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
3-1/2 teaspoons Splenda Granular
1 graham cracker crumb pie crust
Roll pastry on lightly floured surface into circle 1 inch larger than
inverted 9-inch pie pan. Ease pastry into pan; trim and flute edge.
Pierce bottom and side of pastry with fork. Bake in preheated 425 degree
oven until pastry is browned, 10-15 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
Mix water, lemon juice, 1-1/2 cups Splenda and cornstarch in medium
saucepan.
Heat to boiling over medium-high heat, stirring constantly; boil and stir
1 minute. Beat eggs and 2 egg whites in small bowl; stir in about 1/2 the
hot cornstarch mixture. Stir this egg mixture into remaining cornstarch
mixture in saucepan; cook and stir over low heat 1 minute.
Remove from heat; add margarine, stirring until melted. Stir in food
color. Pour mixture into baked pie shell. Beat 3 egg whites in medium bowl
until foamy; add cream of tartar and beat to soft peaks.
Gradually beat in 3-1/2 teaspoons Splenda, beating until stiff peaks form.
Spread meringue over hot lemon filling, carefully sealing to edge of crust
to prevent shrinking or weeping.
Bake pie in preheated 425 degree oven until meringue is browned, about 5
minutes. Cool completely on wire rack before cutting.

Here is an article from About.com from the Sewing site. It has lots of
information on the page, please click on the "comments". The Walmarts'
that will keep fabrics will probably only have "precut fabrics". Also,
Hancocks, has filed for bankrupcy and so far are closing over 134 stores.
I live in Chattanooga Tn, and we have 7 Walmart stores. I contacted all of
them and all be two will not have fabrics anymore. Those two have reduced
their fabrics.

I saw Doris's note to you about receiving the notice about no
newsletter more than one time and had to laugh as it came to me 6 times on
the same day. I always blame those sort of things on the little green men
in outer space. Ha ! Ha !
Barbara in Very, very wet Corsicana,Texas
Regarding the Wal-mart issue. I hate to play the devil's advocate, but
everyone likes a lower price for products and we, the consumer, have
played a part in making Wal-mart a success. I grew up on a dairy farm and
the closest store was 60 miles away, so I understand when they are the
only option. I feel for the rural consumer. If other fabric stores went
out of business, it's because people were more interested in the price
than the ramifications of where they shop. As a group, we could certainly
make our feelings known, but Wal-mart will sell what makes money and
doesn't take up a lot of space.
I don't remember who sent in the Sirloin Steak Marinade recipe with soy
sauce, red wine vinegar, etc. I made it with New York Strip Steak for my
family last week. My 11-year-old, who is incredibly picky, loved it! Thank
you! My favorite marinade I used to purchase is no longer available. Now I
have a marinade that I am not dependant upon a grocery store for!
