Holiday Recipes Return to Page 1 of Today's Newsletter Billie in FL was looking for cookies, sort of soft, made with mince meat. This is a recipe that I make. It has just a few ingredients and I wonder if it's the same as what you made.

Nancy
Hi, I'm a senior citizen - 79 and for Alicia in
Calif., I buy puff pastry in the frozen food section of the grocery store
along with the frozen pie crusts, etc.
Hi Nancy!!!
Thanks Dennis, I will check your site out for the
chocolate, and seniors I am
63 year old in Fort Worth,Texas
Thank you to everyone that shared information on
grits. I purchased Quaker Quick Grits this
morning on my grocery run and couldn't resist making them right away - for
lunch. For my first attempt, I decided to just follow the package
directions. I enjoyed them and look forward to lots of experimenting.
Thanks Nancy for this outlet for such helpful information.
I am an 81 year old senior and enjoy baking and
trying some of the recipes I find in this newsletter.
Have to get busy and bake for a birthday treat I promised my great
granddaughter...
Marilyn in FL it would be great if you sent in
your recipe for fudge that uses Kahlua. I love Kahlua and cream when we go
out to my husband's employee party. It is my favorite drink.
I agree with Marianne in Michigan about introducing and telling a little
about ourselves. My name is Melinda, I live in Tennessee. I am 45 years
old. My hubby and I have been married for 23 years. We have a 15 year old
son, a 20 year old daughter, a son-in-law and 6 month old grandson and
another grandchild on the way, due next June. I also have 3 cats and 1
dog. I too am an avid cook and homemaker. I have been a double amputee and
in a wheelchair for 6 years but don't let that fool you. I am as fast as I
ever was at anything I ever did, well except for driving a car. LOL
Hello, In response to your age question, I am 82 years old but I feel like
I am a teen ager. I don't know what happened to me body. I still have a
lot of fun and do crazy things.
Thanks Nancy for the hard work. I love your site. My twin sister and I are
both seniors as we had our 70 birthday in august. She is a great cook and
does more of it that i do ,but i still love to read your recipes from
viewers. We both live in northeast Tennessee.
Hi Nancy. In reply to Donna in Il
newsletter dated 11/10 she is looking
for a simple and low fat recipe for Tilapia. We too love Tilapia, it is so
mild tasting, not strong at all. The only thing that I use to cook ours is
I roll it in Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs, I use no other seasoning at
all, not even salt. I then fry it in Pam or another brand of Olive Oil
Spray. Used to use a lemon flavored spray but Pam doesn't make it anymore,
at least I haven't been able to find it. I only brown the fish lightly on
each side and its ready to eat. I squirt lemon juice on mine and my
husband likes tartar sauce.
Nancy, It's so good to see so many seniors here. I am 64 years old .I have
sent in a few recipes and I love to cook. I married at a very young age.
Will celebrate our 51st wedding anniversary on the 21st of next month. So
you can do the math and see how young I was .
We have 3 daughters,1 son, 5 grandsons ages 29, 22, 11, 10, and 5 years old. One
granddaughter age 24 .we have 2 great-grandsons ages 5 ,4 .One
great-granddaughter age 3.I really appreciate all the hard work Nancy put
into getting this newsletter out to us. Take care everyone ,Pray you all
have a great Thanksgiving this year.
Hi, I am Lisa in Ft. Worth and have been a member of the group forever.
Well, almost. I signed up in 1996 and when I changed email addresses lost
the address of the site. Just recently I found it again. Love the site as
much as always. Many improvements have been made over the years. I
remember the newsletter when it had a recipe or two and a thought for the
day. I must be much younger than most here or maybe just younger among the
ones that have responded. I say I am 29 but have been for more than 10
years.
Hi Nancy. Well I too am a senior. I have been a member of Daily Recipe Exchange
for about 5 years now and I still copy and paste a lot of the recipes. I
guess maybe if I live to be a thousand I might get a chance to cook most
of them. I am 67, will be 68 in Feb. I love this newsletter and the
Nancylanders that make it up. Most of all Nancy, who does so much for us
and puts it all together. She is great, heck look at her cats, she even
has them trained as helpers.
Hello Nancy and your baby cats! Guess I have to fess up since we're
confessing who is a senior. I am 64 years old. Retired 2 years ago and
love it. Don't know how I ever had time to work! I try to keep busy and
believe you me the leaves have helped me out this fall!
Hi Nancy:
For Sara in MN, thank you so much for submitting the Pumpkin Salad recipe
last week. I made it 2 nights ago and its good. Thanks to your submission,
I created a new recipe. I didn't have the pumpkin or the mini marshmallows
at the time so I made this instead. My 18 yr old son named it Oreo Dream.
This comes out tasting like a rich chocolate mousse with Oreos.
Hi Nancy,
Hi Nancy, here is another senior, 78yrs. I would like to get in touch with
Barbara in Corsicana, I used to live there and would like to meet her even
if just by email. Love all what you do for us, read every newsletter. I
live alone so it helps to get new ideas for cooking meals. Patricia
This is for Rita in Grand Island, NY and Bunnie from Parker, Colorado, and
Peggy in Canada. It's nice to see we seniors are able to enjoy Nancy's web
site. Do you think we'll ever get around to using all of these delicious
recipes?? I have so many saved my desk drawers are over-flowing and so is
my computer. LOL
Another ALABAMA senior age 69.
Thanks to everyone who sent in the
grits recipes. I have never had grits,
but I'm surely going to try them. They sound delicious.
I am another one of your senior members. Have been since 1998 when I was
first on WebTV. I am 83 yrs. old and still enjoying your newsletter every
time. I have sent e-mail a few times but have had so much surgery on my
hands mostly read, cut, copy and paste recipes since I received my
computer.
Gee Donna we really started the age group keep it going.
Hi Nancy, Lovin' those oops's on Thursdays;-) Most seniors such as myself
(61) call the oops's senior moments. Really enjoy the letters and
appreciated all the hard work you put into them.
Hi Nancy and everyone, I am also a Senior
Citizen....seems crazy to say that. I am 59 and will be 60 in February. I
guess you could say I am part of the Baby Boomer generation! Class of 65!
HA!
I finally decided that I will weigh in with the "seniors" who frequent
this web site Nancy. Judging from most of the recipes requested and
submitted, I think that there is a greater majority of senior ladies/and
gentlemen than
younger. I began my 7th decade in September. I grew up cooking "from
scratch". We didn't have microwaves or frozen veggies in a bag. Crockpots
were a revelation. My daughter is 39 and her cooking habits are quite
different from mine. I think she keeps the Schwan man in her area in
business. :))
Hey Nancy,
Hi Nancylanders! I am part of the senior club here
in Nancyland. I turned 69 last July but who's counting?
Nancy,
Thought I would add my age and rank to the list.
I'm 39, live on Cape Cod, own my own pet sitting & dog walking business,
and LOVE to cook. I look forward to this newsletter everyday (love when
Nancy forgets about Thursday!!!!). My fondness for cooking came to me at
a very early age because my mother never cooked, she was a really bad
cook, and all the other moms in the neighborhood were such avid cooks that
I was always watching them create these wonderful casseroles, cookies and
cakes while the kids played outside (I liked cooking much more!). I was
not the child watching Sesame Street, rather I was watching Julia Child
and the Galloping Gourmet!!! Great memories.
So, thank you Nancy, and thank you everyone for being so eager to share
your treasured recipes & ideas. Of course we have to thank the furry
office helpers too. Just thought I would add my name to the list of seniors. I am 61. Zelda from Grand Prairie, TX
Hello All, I'm Janice from Texas & I'm 54 years
old. I'm married & have 2 boys ages 22 & 24. I also have 3 cats, Cracker,
Graham & Bubba. To Mary Alyce in WI, congratulation for your 3lbs lost.
You Go Girl! Also, Nancy thanks for your dedication that you do to give us
this newsletter, even on Thursdays. You're a sweetheart.
In November 8 Newsletter, Donna in Colorado wanted
to know how many seniors there are reading your Newsletter. I am 82.
When cats/kittens spend time outdoors, they
sometimes pick up a bacteria the lives on their teeth. Humans often are
very susceptible to this germ, but not all humans!. Return to Page 1 of Today's Newsletter CLICK HERE to respond to newsletter replies, requests and tips.
